Take Five With Allen Iverson
Plus, NYC Is Going Overboard

…Pretty privilege is the idea that attractive people are more well-liked because of their looks. When it comes to athletes, is this the case? There are some hypotheses here, but ultimately, beauty is in the eye of the ball-knower.
Last night’s Game 1 was written in the stars. So is the future of the NBA. This astrological expert says Thunder in 5. Digging even deeper into the future of the league, the planets suggest we might as well stop searching for the new face—we may be done with the GOAT talk. No capricorn.
Thank the tennis gods, we’re getting a Coco-Aryna rematch, but we’ll always have Paris Lois Boisson. Her fairytale is over, but if you missed it, the No. 361-ranked player in the world made history in her run. For a moment, we were infinite.
If they give medals for anime fandom, Chloe Kim is going for the gold. She spoke to Teen Vogue about how she got started watching anime, her five faves, and whether or not dragons are furry. We didn’t even know they existed.
Lil Wayne dropped an unreleased track to promote the NBA finals. Sources say it cost ESPN A Milli. The track, from his new album Tha Carter VI, features U2’s Bono, so we’re guessing it’s also preloaded onto all of our iPods.
Forward this to AI’s biggest fan.

Welcome back to Take Five, a series where our community taps in to curate the music, style, trends, and influencers that have caught their eye. From the things that inspire them to what or who we should all be paying attention to.
You’ve seen our past Take Fives, featuring big names like tennis champion, friend, and OffBall advisor Naomi Osaka, NBA star Kyle Kuzma, and TV funny guy Blake Anderson.
Today, we’re talking to a hooper who has quite literally been the definition of cool for decades: Allen Iverson. Shaq, president of Reebok basketball, has enlisted the help of AI to catapult the brand back to the top of the hoops hill. Stream their docuseries, Power Moves, on Netflix to see the two (with Angel Reese and Dijonai Carrington) put in the work.
We asked The Answer some very important questions. Let’s get to it.

SailGP is turning New York City into a beachy watersports mecca. At least for the weekend, which is going to resemble the Monaco Grand Prix if it was staged in the Big Apple—a scenario some people have dreamed of making a reality. Because the Manhattan GP is likely to remain a pipe dream, you’ll have to settle for what the sport’s founders are calling, literally, “F1 on the water.”
Even though it’s the age equivalent of a kindergartener, it’s already breaking the piggy bank. They’ve got the Rolex deals. The celeb owners (Hey, Ryan Reynolds, save some teams for other A-List like Anne Hathaway). They’re in Vogue (but will we get F1 status fits, or does that take time to evolve? TBD).
If you want to feel the wind in your hair and the water under your feet like a real SailGP team, there will be a simulator for fans to use. We’re seasick just thinking about it, but NYC Curator of Cool, New York Nico, says it’s the best sport ever.
So, we’ll see you on Governors Island. What’s next, floating bodegas? Wait, we’re patenting that. No, never mind, let’s not go overboard.

Everyone, and we mean everyone, is golfing this summer. So should you!
SoCal fam, go to an Angels game and hang out with the real gamers at the arcade.
Stop doomscrolling and start happy scrolling Kevin Love’s IG because it’s the troll that keeps on trolling.
