Take Five With Blake Anderson
Plus, The Draft Jingle Is Stuck In Your Head

…aka her “first love.” In a video love letter to the sport and to LSU, she says gymnastics has shaped her into the person she is and created memories that she’ll have forever. Plus, they used the Billie Eilish Barbie song, which’ll make you cry every time.
You can run in denim now, thanks to Montreal-based indie running company Ciele Athletics’ athletic denim. It’s a little heavier than the other fabrics, but it’s perfect for when you’ve got a workout at 4 o’clock and a happy hour at 4:30.
WhatsApp and F1 is a partnership made in marketing heaven. A deal that includes driver group chats, emoji cars, short films, and more—one of our fave writers, Toni Cowan-Brown takes us through how each party benefits.
The Rock could have been there to witness now-heel John Cena’s win over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, but he told Pat McAfee his justification for missing was that this really wasn’t his moment. Selfless king.
FIFA commissioned artists from each respective host city to create the 2026 World Cup posters, and words cannot describe how hard they go. Need them all on a gallery wall ASAP.
Forward today’s newsletter to a sad Oakland A’s fan.

Welcome back to Take Five, a series where our community taps in to curate the music, style, restaurants, trends, and influencers that have caught their eye. From the things that inspire them to what or who we should all be paying attention to.
We’ve had some fun with this series, featuring big names like tennis champion, friend, and OffBall advisor Naomi Osaka, NBA star Kyle Kuzma, and Unrivaled and WNBA standout Allisha Gray.
Today, we’re talking to Bay Area native slash Warriors’ superfan slash Hollywood funny guy, Blake Anderson.
You’ve probably seen him in his Comedy Central hit Workaholics, Chelsea Peretti’s film First Time Female Director, Hulu’s Woke, or his Tubi animated series The Freak Brothers. Perhaps maybe at the 2022 Warriors Championship Parade (or any other Warriors’ game, in any Warriors hype video, or on any sports show talking about the Warriors). He’s a really big fan, and he’s famous, are you getting that yet?
Blake, let’s chat Bay Area sports.

When you hear “NFL draft jingle,” it automatically plays in your head, right? In fact, it might just swirl around in there like an earworm you can’t get rid of, only in a good way. Would you believe us if we told you that the jingle came from the same guy who did Sex and the City’s music? Well, it doesn’t really matter if you believe us, because it’s true.
Steve Ackles, who was a production assistant at the time of the jingle’s creation — but who is now a big time exec (congrats, Steve) — knew in his bones they needed a song to indicate when picks were about to be announced. You’re welcome, viewers at home who are sweeping or wiping out the fridge or changing diapers while watching.
In 2004, they used this jingle, and the following year, ESPN used the New York Stock Exchange bell, before they landed on the one we know and love today. They brought on composer Bob Christianson to think something up and bam!
The jingle became an instant classic.

Some of us love it so much we want it to play as our causes of death are announced.
When I die, I hope the medical examiner announces my cause of death with the NFL Draft jingle. That sound bangs so hard 🔥

It’s so familiar to us now we hear it in other songs.

So, every time the earworm returns, be sure to thank Steve, Bob, and ESPN.
