Two Types Of Winners: Scottie Scheffler And Miller Moss
No one had a Labor Day weekend quite like these two.
Sports. Culture. Curated Daily.
49ers WAGs had a ball at the team’s Gatsby-themed party. It’s the second time this offseason the Niners have made headlines with a celebration, following the glamorous wedding of running back Christian McCaffrey and SI model Olivia Culpo. Who wins best dressed?
A trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will show you the future of tennis—it’s big laser shows, more gambling, and TikTok. Also did you know that the Hawk-Eye system is actually a precog? Get your scrollin’ finger ready this one is a longread.
But for now, tennis is doing just fine. Better than fine. Fantastic, really. Is it the new slate of young stars in the sport? The incredible fashion crossovers? Zendaya? A little bit of all that, plus TikTok.
You know NIL money is big, but which players are getting the biggest paydays? Here’s some dataviz for ya. Surprising no one, quarterbacks and basketball players are making out well. By conference, SEC is king.
Remember the whole NBA broadcast rights saga? It looks like we’re running it back with baseball soon. Should Diamond Sports Group, which runs local rights to 12 MLB teams, collapse, the bidding war between Amazon, Apple, Google, and NBC is back on baby.

Scheffler just wrapped up the most dominant year golf has seen since Tiger Woods’ prime with a win at the TOUR Championship, taking home the $25 million prize that goes with it.
The win puts Scheffler’s 2024 earnings at an unfathomable $62,228,357—that’s more than all but eight other golfers have made in their entire career. $12,000 per golf swing is good work if you can get it.
Scottie Scheffler earned $62,228,357 in total PGA Tour money this year.
That's ...
• $3.3M per tournament
• $830K per round
• $12K per shot
• $3K per minute on the course*Insane, insane stuff.
*assuming 4.5 hour rounds

Scheffler also helped his caddie Ted Scott cash in, pushing his earnings on par with that of some of the best golfers in the world. Talk about getting a bag.
None of the cash goes to his head, though. Scheffler is by all accounts the nicest man in golf. Did you see him on “Full Swing”? What a charmer. Imagine if Ned Flanders could drive the ball 300 yards.
That shining reputation is what made his sudden arrest during the PGA Championship such an unbelievable story. (Seriously, nobody believed it, and they were right not to.)
Thankfully there were other bright spots in the year. Scheffler won a golf medal and another green jacket at the Masters. He and his wife Meredith welcomed their first child to the world.

USC opened their season with an impressive win over LSU, but before that, they got the college football world moving with the best hype video of the weekend. One note—you guys know the Trojans weren’t the ones in the horse, right?
They also celebrated in style, with a locker room dance session inspired by Tigers’ trip to the White House a few years back. Shots fired!
@bleacherreport Never forget when LSU did this in the White House in 2019 🔥 (via Coach_Henny/X, Jayy_Phillips95/X) #collegefootball #football #cfb #usc #nfl
In Miller Moss, a star was born. The fourth-year QB has the difficult task of replacing a Heisman winner in Caleb Williams, and so far, he seems up to the challenge. Williams approves.

Robert Griffin III says Moss has been that dude for a while. Now given the opportunity, he’s showing it on the field. Oh, and he’s got swagger in buckets.

Also, his dad’s an architect. Like, a super famous one. Or at least famous for architects. Definitely a different barometer than “college football quarterback famous,” but still pretty cool.
America’s Cup is the oldest international sporting competition in the world, dating back to 1851. Turns out, sailboats have changed a lot in the past almost 200 years, and now it costs quite a bit of money to get involved.
Guess how much money. Seriously guess. Highlight here for answer: $135 million on sailing what???
Making the investment even wilder is the fact that contenders only race once every three or four years, with just one contender moving on to challenge the current champion for the trophy.
Imagine if you spent four years building a brand new F1 car and only got to race it twice before you were sent packing.
This photo gonna move mountains
