Two Brilliant Betts, One Cashed UCLA Women’s Chip
Plus, The PWHL’s Got It All

…Tom Brady eats chocolate now. When it comes to his diet, he either changed his ways or he’s trying to seem chill. No word on chocolate-covered strawberries, though.
Like ‘em or not, Tyrese Haliburton’s fits are always the talk of the town. I like ‘em, for the record, and so does Who What Wear’s Eliza Huber. It’s all thanks to stylist Olivier Rogers. But the limitless aura helps, too.
In collegiate sports, having a twin kind of means double the opportunities. That’s been true for Haley and Hanna Cavinder, who have seized the NIL day at every turn. And by the way, next up, WWE regulars?!
This edition of Athleisure Mag talks to Dawson’s Creek’s Joshua Jackson about hockey; Morgan Riddle about WAG life, and Breanna Stewart, Richard Jefferson, and Andraya Carter about their NCAA brackets, and soooo much more. Like, really so much more. See! I’m not lying!
Put the scissors down — no need to cut World Cup kids into crop tops. Leave that to the pros, like Adidas. That goes for men, too!
Forward this to a fan of either USC (Southern Cal or South Carolina) women’s hoops programs (to talk sh*t).

This was a big weekend for me personally. Not only did I get to watch my favorite collegiate women’s basketball player, Lauren Betts, nab an NCAA championship, but I also went to my first PWHL game. You know, the one that will forever be etched in the annals of herstory by selling out and tallying an attendance of 18,006 fans?
Aside from an exhilarating game that ended in the NY Sirens beating the Seattle Torrent in a shootout, the highlight for me was the NY Sirens’ fans’ chant: “Let’s go Sirens/wee woo, wee, woo.” Believe me when I say there’s nothing like listening to 18,000 fans scream “wee woo” to get a team hyped. It was amazing.
Anyway, Flau’jae was in the house and took care of the puck drop duties, along with Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect holds up if you embraced the theater kid, I’m not afraid to say it), Amanda Serrano, Kelley O’Hara, and others.

From a fan perspective, there’s a particular kind of inspiration found at a women’s sports event. Actually, it’s the kind that can only be found at a women’s sporting event. I was seated between legendary kid reporter Pepper Persley and upcycled-merch designer, Lori Moran — two incredibly inspiring creatives in the industry.
The highlight for probably everyone else, rightfully so, was the Heated Rivalry sing-along moment on the jumbotron, which basically became a kiss cam.
So, if you’re considering becoming a hockey fan, maybe start with the PWHL. And if you already love the PWHL, congrats on being ahead of the curved stick!!

I picked UCLA to win it all, but I was mostly manifesting. I did not expect them to win, I will be honest. UConn getting trounced by South Carolina, and South Carolina getting clobbered by UCLA, wasn’t on my plinko card. But it happened! And the internet had a ball.
Gabriella (also known by some as Jaime Jaquez Jr.’s sister) Jaquez had the night of her life and definitely punched her ticket to the WNBA draft.
Speaking of sisters, we can’t not mention how much it means to Sienna and Lauren to have won The Chip together.
What can we say, sisterhood and friendship are the most powerful forces in the world, it seems.
Some people (me, an Oregon State alum) still aren’t over this championship belonging to the Big Ten instead of the Pac-12.
Some generational haters logged on during this one.
And the lovers.
But, to be clear, there was no handshake drama.
Legend has it, UCLA is still dancing as you read this.
Most of their team will be headed to the big leagues, but that’s a problem for future them.
And, in the biggest surprise of the night, legendary halftime plate balancer Red Panda dropped a bowl.
