…And the Jaylen Brown trade almost killed him. Or maybe it was the anesthesia. Anyways, inquiring minds—and we were many—now have our answer why the Podfather held out on us for more than 16 hours after the news broke that JB is a 76er and Paul George is a Celtic. Yes, that same Paul George who has been traded 100 times. Maybe this time will be different!!!!
The WNBA All-Star starters have been named, and as WNBA fans famously have been all season, everyone’s being really normal about the news. Olivia Miles is the only rookie to make the cut. I am going to make sure to be in Chicago for the game, just in case they need me to suit up. I don’t play offense though, hope that’s ok.
I can relate to the classic “I have too many clothes, but I hate them all” conundrum, but I cannot relate to the “I have too many soccer kits, and I love them all” dilemma. CNN reporter slash Englishman Will Edmonds explains how he’s choosing which 30 kits to rock this World Cup.
Sports Illustrated compiled a list of the top five athletes from all 50 states, and it’s a great list, but the best part is the discourse that comes with lists like these. I get to be annoying about the fact that Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart were left off the New York starting five, and that Babe Ruth is considered the superior Marylander to Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky.
No nation’s people are savoring and celebrating this World Cup more than Mexicans. Not only are their celebrations of El Tri off the charts (and in some cases, the rails), but their stadiums are some of the best. Exhibit A, Estadio Azteca.
Forward this to a thousand of your closest friends.

Taylor Swift’s wedding (or Travis Kelce’s wedding, as this Chiefs Girl calls it), is set to take place any second now, and I have to say, every piece of information I learn seems to be more unbelievable than the last (possibly because maybe they’ve already actually exchanged vows?!).
That it was going to be at Madison Square Garden felt like a baseless rumor, until the couple applied for a permit from the city of New York. The castle being erected inside the iconic sports arena seemed like a fairytale, but I suppose anything is possible. Hearing there would be 1,000 attendees seemed preposterous, until we learned there would be 400 at the rehearsal.
Even after police were seen holding this, I can’t wrap my head around it being real. Anyways, it seems the event is either happening today, tomorrow, or yesterday in a secret ceremony in Tennessee or Pennsylvania, but there’s no way to really know as I type this on Thursday night. In case my gut is correct, here are some things it could be other than, say, a wedding.
A music video. This was my colleague Bella’s theory, but it barely took any convincing. It would be very smart.
A decoy event—while the real one happens somewhere else.
A wedding watch party. The Jumbotron, the sky bridge, the organ. It would be a great place to watch a wedding.
A Knicks scrimmage. What? The starters were invited, after all.
The world’s biggest collective nap. Why else are beds being brought in?
A New Heights pod. Live.
A multi-level marketing scheme conference. Have you considered being your own girl boss and/or tight end??
A Love Island watch party. Movie night part two in MSG, anyone??
Regardless of what happens at MSG this weekend, it’s clear that they either are married, or will be soon married, or will be doing something else, or maybe nothing at all. Hope that helps!

As the founder of Brooklyn-based fashion brand KidSuper, Colm Dillane has kind of refined what it means to be a modern designer. This applies not just to his own collections, but also (especially!) to his rowdy collaborations with such brands as Louis Vuitton, PUMA, UGG, Bape and more.
To say Dillane is a soccer fan would be underplaying just how deep the emotional connection goes. I saw him speak on a panel at an OffBall x Threads x KidSuper event earlier this week, and he was absolutely beaming when talking about his friendship with Ronaldhino, which he credits to fashion. His spirited storytelling is apparent in his designs, but it was also on full display at the event. He’s eccentric and playful in his creations and missions. A point perfectly punctuated by the custom soccer pitch he built on the rooftop of his studio.
Dillane told us he runs his brand like a soccer team: “Get better or get benched,” he said through laughs. And his projects read like a laundry list of a cool kid’s dream of brand partnerships. He has McDonalds kits, Mercedes-Benz kits, Ronaldinho-inspired kits. He designed cleats for Neymar and Christian Pulisic, and had Mario Balotelli walk in a runway show of his.
In lieu of a catwalk in Paris, he opted to put runways in a soccer stadium in Miami and paid tribute to the 48 participating nations in the World Cup.
So yeah, he’s not your average creator. Or designer. Or person.
