The W’s Biggest Trade
Plus, Everyone Wants To Be Wrexham

…Definitely not us, because we would never tell him he couldn’t do something, also because he’s headed back home to Santos. And his Brazilian fans are ecstatic.
This story of how Bobby Wagner got himself a Jordan deal is 20% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power o— no, sorry, it’s actually just really cool and inspiring. But Michael definitely remembers his name.
Love is in the [stadium ch]air. What is it about sporting events that make them the perfect place to hard launch a relationship? We aren’t sure exactly, but it’s fun!
The Chiefs aren’t the only ones seeking a 3-peat. The NBA dunk contest’s biggest little guy Mac McClung, is coming back, and he’s seeking a third-straight victory.
Antonia Bronze has done it again. The London-based designer has a growing reputation for turning vintage soccer gear into one-of-one statement pieces for players and their partners alike. Her latest work—custom Nike Tiempo-inspired bomber jackets for Leah Williamson and Jamal Musiala—may just be her best yet.

WNBA players are advocating for themselves in ways they never have before, and Jewell Loyd is the latest to manifest exactly what she wants. Sunday night, Shams Charnia announced a trade that shook hoops fans to their cores. Let’s back up a bit. A few weeks back, Loyd filed a complaint against Noelle Quinn and Seattle for alleged mistreatment. The Storm found no wrongdoing, so Jewell said see ya later, suckers. It’s actually juicer than this, too, because there’s speculation that bad blood between Loyd and her teammates Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith may be the root of some of this drama, too. A situation further complicated by Nneka’s position as president of the WNBPA.
Regardless of what went on behind the scenes, Loyd got her wish, and is joining the M’VP (and Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray) on the Aces. Jewell is known to be a grinder (she’s called the Gold Mamba for a reason) and should fit right in with Becky Hammon’s team. Becky Hammon! That brings us to our next plot point. Becky is under fire for allegedly mistreating Dearica Hamby, who was traded to the Sparks in 2023. Are you keeping up?
Now, onto Plum (and Hamby!). Kelsey Plum was beloved by Vegas fans but had her own ups and downs there—though hers were off the court. She divorced ex-Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller after 13 months of marriage and then backed out of Unrivaled for personal reasons. There are rumors that she may have also wanted out of Vegas, and either way, we think a move to Tinseltown might be just what KP needs. And Hamby is more than thrilled. She pinned this cryptic tweet shortly after the trade was announced.
What this means for the Storm is kinda TBD. For starters, who could they possibly get to replace Jewell Loyd? The answer is most likely USC’s Kiki Iriafen or Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles (with the #2 pick they secured), plus the Sparks’ Li Yueru.
One thing is for sure: these teams will all look dramatically different next year. KP will probably be a movie producer by then, Jewell will be spending her days after practice at the slots, and one of our draft picks will need a new umbrella.

Nowadays, it’s not really enough to just be a professional athlete it seems; everything is about diversifying your portfolio. After the undeniable success of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenny’s football club, many others are trying to emulate that same magic (albeit the other kind of football). Ex-NBA-er Blake Griffin and ex-NFL-er Ryan Kalil are the latest to throw their hats in the ring in buying a majority stake in the Monterrey Fundidores. And they’ll aim to get the Mexico-based American football league team in front of a broader audience via a BTS doc under their production arm.
And they aren’t the only ones whose childhood dreams of team ownership became a reality. Musicians and actors want in, too.
Recall that A$AP Rocky has dreams of buying a team in the fourth tier of English soccer as well.
A whole host of other athletes and celebs—from Beyoncé and the Williams sisters to Michael B. Jordan and Tom Brady—already have part ownership in teams around the world.
To be clear, though, Bad Bunny is not following suit, despite previous reports.
