The March Madness Before March Madness

Plus, SNL Turned A Heated Rivalry Into A Feel-Good Storrie

…And put a boxing ring at the Pyramids of Giza. Just kidding, they didn’t destroy anything, but it will still be quite a scene. Iconic or too commercial? Who’s to say? I guess all of the world, come May 23.

Renee Montgomery is one of the most magnetic, bright, and engaging voices in sports. Just ask Chanel Beauty, which tapped her as the mentor for its new collective of female athletes, the très chic CC league.

Trend Forecast Alert: Boots at the country club. Jason Kelce has weak ankles due to his NFL days, so he got a cobbler to make him some golf boots. I have a feeling more people will do this, because I have to admit it looks swaggy as hell.

Goodbye Nike, hello Uniqlo. Tennis star Emma Raducanu left the check life for more Unique (lo) pastures, and she’ll debut her first fits at Indian Wells this week. She isn’t quite done with Nike yet, though. Just ask her feet.

Luke Kornet was born to be a creator, forced to be a hooper. Maybe not forced, but the Spurs’ backup big has a blog, and it’s really good. He says he’s a sham, but The Athletic says he’s a natural. And I tend to agree!

Forward this to your friend who’s been stuck inside this winter and needs to add some things to their social calendar.

March Madness (am I allowed to say that without getting sued?) usually doesn’t get started until late March. But right now, we’re kind of living in our own March madness (not capitalized). Between the start this week of the F1 season, World Baseball Classic, and Unrivaled finals, we really don’t even need NCAA hoops to generate madness. Not to mention the madness taking place in the WNBA’s CBA negotiations.

Also, not to mention the madness of March being Women’s History Month (by the way, we’re still keeping the momentum moving for Black History Month as well), but I guess no one told AI. Google doesn’t even mention Unrivaled’s playoffs. Opting instead for a Nets-Pacers tank-a-thon, obviously.

Anyway, let’s see what we’ve got coming up.

As I mentioned, Unrivaled’s semis and finals are this week and will be played in Brooklyn and Miami, respectively. I’m in the middle of a New Girl rewatch, so thank you to our social team for creating this

In the F1 lane, expect to see an exciting first race of the season this weekend, wherein Alexandra St. Mleux (now Leclerc, on Instagram) puts the W in WAG. The two were spotted this weekend in a convertible Ferrari, wearing fancy clothes, looking a little mousey (positive). So it’s safe to assume they are married. Congrats to the beautiful couple.

Who expected baseball would be dubbed cool enough to influence streetwear? Admittedly, not me. But it is, and the World Baseball Classic is about to be one of the coolest events of this year’s sports calendar.

And, if you’re lucky enough to be spending some time in sunny California this month (or you’re retired, or my grandparents, and you live in the desert), you should be at Indian Wells. The so-called Fifth Major, the most vibey tennis tournament of the year, is here and our friends at Racquet Mag made a “How to Indian Wells” guide. I already feel like Timothée and Kylie.

Finally, the Champions League knockout phase ends on March 10, but the real story there is how Tommy Hilfiger’s partnership with Liverpool has turned Dominic Szobozlai into a tunnel-walk model

Ok, I think that’s all I’ve got on the docket for the first week of March. Let me know if I’ve forgotten anything.

Connor Storrie? More like Connor Starrie, because that boy is a star. The breakout actor known for Headed Rivalry (and also for being ActorBoy222) hosted SNL this weekend, and he set the stage for funny commentary on the controversial locker room phone call from the President.

Hilary Knight and Megan Keller popped into frame to make a joke about how they had to invite the men onto the show.

Storrie also set the stage for Hudson Williams to join him mid-sketch.

And Heated Rivalry-watcher, Knight (no stranger, by the way, to the SNL shade-dropping stage) made sure to give Storrie his flowers after the show.

Do it all again next week? See you there?
