Plus, Your Favorite Celebs Are Ditching Pickle for Padel

…But will they be any good? If you love The Great British Bake Off, here’s your new show. The Great American Baking Show features celeb sports stars like DK Metcalf, Tony Gonzalez, and Katie Nolan. These people just cannot stop competing.
The hooper-to-filmmaker pipeline is real. First was Ryan Coggler and Mahershala Ali and now Ramell Ross talks about how playing college hoops led him to directing one of the best films of the year.
It’s official. Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will fight for a title in Vegas in September this year. Terry’s gotta jump two weight classes to fight the super middleweight champ, gulp.
I’m not crying, you’re crying, wait no, Luka’s crying. It turns out just before the blockbuster trade, Luka bought a $15 million home in Dallas. And he cried when he learned he’d be traded. Also, as the trades continue to roll in, execs are adjusting flights to avoid awkward away trips.
Over half of pro athletes are betting on sports, or so says Matthew Bowyer, the former bookie for Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, in his first interview with the media since he was charged. If true, that’s a wild number. Bowyer has plans to self-publish a book. Will he name names? Dun dun dun.

The best city in America is not New York, it’s not LA, it’s not Chicago, it’s New Orleans—well, the best city for the Super Bowl, that is. So says the Caesars Superdome and the Saints, and, yes, they’re biased, but they’ve fully convinced us.
N’awlins is a city that perfectly reflects her people. She acts as a mirror of their hearts, their personalities, their hopes, and dreams. Her residents’ collective penchant for the creative and the spirited is on full display in the storefronts of NOLA designers, artists, and local brands like these NFL x Origins collaborators, which you can see in person on 2/7, should you decide to make a last-min trip, thanks to the drop in ticket costs.
New Orleans was ranked the no. 1 food city by Trip Advisor several times in the last few years. So, assuming Super Bowl goers like food, it earns a point there. Eli Manning will be posted up eating po’ boys at Domilise’s all weekend, in fact. GloRilla, 50 Cent, T-Pain, and about a bajillion other celebs will all be in town (at these events)!
In terms of parties and celebrations, the birthplace of Jazz, Crown Royal, and King Cake basically invented the concepts. Whether it’s a steamboat cruise, a spooky tour, a streetcar, or going to a fashion show if you’re cool enough to get in (we think you are!), Super Bowl parties in NOLA are going to deliver. Plus, the city has all this free stuff to do.
If end up going and you forget your toothbrush, it seems like the Chiefs will have extras. Saquon will not, so don’t ask.

Eva Longoria is not like other celebs—her favorite sport isn’t pickleball. It’s padel.
Eva co-owns a padel team and is focused on elevating the game, especially on the women’s side. Eva, who actually also has ownership in a pickleball team, is trying to pull pickleball players toward padel, claiming “they should sweat when playing a sport.” Brutal.
She isn’t the only star who identifies as a padel person. David Beckham has been spotted playing regularly in Miami, while Jimmy Butler plays (probably even more than usual right now). Cristiano Ronaldo invested in a state-of-the-art Padel facility in Portugal, and Lionel Messi reportedly has a Padel court at his Barcelona home. UK rapper Stormzy recently became an investor in London’s upmarket Padel Social Club venue.
So, ok, it seems that maybe Eva’s helped capture the intrigue of celebrities everywhere. But she’s also working with local clubs and schools to get more padels in hands. For Eva, she says it’s an actual addiction. She watches it on TV constantly and attends (and plays at) major events, like the Hexagon Cup.
Who’s up for doubles?

To all the kids out there living in small towns, in small houses, with single parents. To the kids who see violence, who see loss, who don’t get the resources they deserve, but who still have big dreams. Know that I was a kid in your exact shoes and this week I’m playing in the… x.com/i/web/status/1…
