LeBron Named To New Dream Team—This One Includes Lewis Hamilton And Pharrell
Plus, there’s never been a better time to be a sports team in NYC.
Derek Jeter is getting in on the athlete-turned-producer craze with his new company Cap 2 Productions, which will focus on family-friendly docs and scripted sports content. Netflix get ready to give this man a bag.
The British are coming for American football. The NFL Academy is working to convert young athletes from fútbol to football, and has already sent several players to Power Four conference schools. When they graduate, they may get to live the dream of playing for the Jaguars.
Jürgen Klopp has landed a new gig as the head of global soccer at Red Bull, which he will begin at the start of 2025. What a job title. If Mountain Dew is hiring a head of global lacrosse at some point in the near future, let us know where to drop off the application.
Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson have created audio gold with their “All The Smoke” podcast. You might think athlete podcasts are dime-a-dozen in 2024, but how many of them has Kamala Harris been a guest on mid-campaign?
The sneaker world loves a retro re-release, but are brands devaluing their most prized possessions? A few recent announcements have sneakerheads debating the topic.
Boise State beach volleyball player Nora Hayd became an internet darling after the team’s photoshoot highlighted her goth style, and it helped her land an NIL deal with Hot Topic. That’s the system working as designed, folks.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has named ASAP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour as co-chairs of the 2025 Met Gala, with LeBron James serving as the honorary chair. The gala—always one of the biggest nights on the fashion calendar—will open the museum’s spring show, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Their roles as co-chairs at the gala mark a crowning moment on the fashion timelines of both Hamilton and James, who have long been coveted style tastemakers and collaborators to some of fashion’s most sought after brands..
James’ fashion journey can be traced back to his infamous draft night in 2003, when he and fellow soon-to-be-stars Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh wore the boxy, baggy suits that were in vogue at the time.

Since then, James has lived through the entirety of the NBA’s Tunnel Walk era, evolving his looks as the seasons rolled by. LeBron has become a close collaborator with Louis Vuitton under the creative direction of Pharrell Williams, sitting front row at the brand’s Paris Fashion Week shows and modeling its clothing both in the tunnel and in billboard campaigns.

Lewis Hamilton has long been Formula 1’s go-to style icon and a darling of the fashion industry. The seasoned Met Gala and fashion week attendee is increasingly leaning into creative pursuits releasing merch under his +44 brand and guest-designing a menswear collection for Dior.

The Met Gala is no stranger to sports—Roger Federer co-chaired the event last year—but 2024 was the year sports and fashion truly collided. With soaring interest in tunnel walks from basketball to soccer, athletes in the front row (and on the runway) at fashion weeks, and the explosion in tie-ups between sports organizations, athletes and fashion houses, the two industries have never been closer.
Move over “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” there’s a new baseball anthem.

The New York City sports scene is absolutely buzzing. Between the New York Liberty in the WNBA Finals, both the Mets and Yankees in peak playoff position, and the Knicks on the verge of their most anticipated season in decades, the Big Apple could be in for an historic month.

The Liberty have dominated the sports conversation all season. A win would be a brilliant capstone on an historic year for the franchise, and put an end to the Liberty’s unwanted record of having the most WNBA Finals appearances without a championship.
The team endeared itself to an ever-growing fanbase by creating a unique experience. No one embodies this more than mascot Ellie the Elephant, who has become a phenomenon beyond the realm of sports.
But the Liberty’s moment goes beyond Ellie. The team has leaned into its community through the recent years, investing in social media channels, embracing the creators that build content around the team with their “influencer row” and building a home game experience that helped grow attendance from 2,000 to 12,000 per game.
The Liberty aren’t the only ones in the postseason chat. The Mets are through to the NLCS, and the Yankees are still battling. We don’t want to jinx it but…Subway Series? We can hope.
