… Nelly Korda is putting women’s golf on the runway. The world’s top-ranked female golfer and fashion plate won’t stop throwing fits as she attempts to become only the third woman to win the first three majors of the year. You can watch the 27-year-old star try to make herstory this weekend on the Peacock and its assorted affiliates.
Speaking of the Peacock, you know the old saying about how ‘everything comes back to Love Island?’* The OffBall social media team cooked up this trusty, definitive guide to Love Islanders as World Cup teams. Comment and let us know if you agree. Or disagree. All engagement is good engagement.
*Not an old saying
If you ever take a trip around the world, send it during a World Cup! While the games are being played Stateside, The Guardian sent photographers to capture the coolest watch parties on Planet Earth. These fan zones are so ridiculous, we can’t believe they’re not postcards.
If you ever thought that Paris Fashion Week was missing a tennis tournament…you weren’t the only one. Earlier this week the Highsnobiety Invitational took over the Tennis Club de Paris, where pro skaters, musicians and writers all hit the court. Show me the petition for more fashion week tournaments and I will sign on the line that is dotted.
Time to put a bow on SPORT BEACH at Cannes, which truly was the dreamy athlete playground of a Fitzgerald novel if athlete playgrounds had existed in the 1920s. So many stars to shout out, but we’re going to single out the chill of Jaylen Brown in the sweltering France heat. Even as his name was being bandied about in trade rumors, the Celtics star was all business in announcing the launch of Plyrs Untd, an NBA player-run storytelling collective. How dope is this going to be? This dope.
Forward this to your most Pissah friend in the chat.

I spent this week in Cannes, more specifically at Cannes Lions, more more specifically at SPORT BEACH. If you’ve been reading the SPORT BEACH newsletter, which I write now, you know that. Anyways, at the SPORT BEACH cabana, we listened to some of the biggest athletes and executives in the world offer branding insights, give marketing advice, and provide fresh partnership strategies.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of listening to my colleague Daniel-Yaw Miller moderate a panel with Boston Celtic Jayson Tatum, and it was an absolute treat. Tatum told a story about how he got his first Kobe jersey at All-Star weekend in 2007. And he told the touching story of how in every single game (since seventh grade) he will visibly tug his ears as a nod to his grandma, with whom he’s extremely close, to let her know he’s thinking of her. And how his collaboration with New Era was a way of shouting out his grandma. More on that here. He was so engaging, so locked in, having such a good time on stage with the rest of the panelists.
All in all it was a week for the books, and I can’t wait to come back someday when I have a yacht.

If you know (Off)Ball, you know Aliya Kisivo. Because we love her and write about her and feature her often, yes, but also because she is now at OffBall. We sent her to Italy earlier this month on a very important mission and she did not disappoint. I’ve asked her to write a little something about her experience. Aliya, what the heck were you doing in Italy, girl?
NBA players, NBA draft prospects, NBA team scouts… and most importantly, Aliya! In a place like Treviso, Italy, surrounded by professional basketball connoisseurs it’s easy to assume I (a social media creator who talks about basketball sometimes) would feel out of place. But to my surprise (and to the surprise of many), Adidas Eurocamp was the exact opposite.
Between the NBA Draft and Eurocamp, it’s been inspiring to see so much of basketball’s “next-up” talent on display.
While I wasn’t there to study players and build scouting reports that’ll probably affect the rest of these young men's careers… as the sole media member representing OffBall, I probably had the most fun. I spent the weekend interviewing athletes and chatting with everyone I met.
I mean, asking Franz Wagner his favorite Olivia Dean song right after his 30-minute interview with German media (that was probably about you know… basketball) had me feeling like the comedic relief character that cracks a joke after a really intense moment in a drama.

The confused shock on VJ Edgecombe’s face when I asked him if conch is better than a Philly cheesesteak is still engraved in my brain. Not what you thought this interview was going to be about, huh?

Me and my Amazon tripod made the most of our weekend — asking the unexpected questions, the fun stuff.
All in all, Eurocamp was an incredible experience and the only time I’ve unironically asked myself “working hard or hardly working?”
Thank you, Adidas, for the invite, but I could’ve gone the rest of my life without knowing that all of the tiramisu I thought I enjoyed in the US is fraudulent and the actual best tiramisu can be found in the small, niche town in Italy at which Adidas hosts basketball camps every year. 10/10 experience, would go again.
