It’s A Cole World
Plus, The Dodgers Get It

…Three, to be exact. At the Laax Open, Kim became the first woman to land a double cork 1080 in competition. Maddie Mastro followed suit.
Italian footballer Moise Kean killed it on the runway for PDF at Milan Fashion Week. Some people are just good at everything.
Shedeur and Shilo Sanders talked with Complex about playlists, being mindful of your image, and whether Deion might coach them again at the next level. Also, Shedeur admitted 2Chainz is like a big brother to him—in front of his actual big brother. Sorry, Shilo.
Kelsey Plum did what she does best (bark) at her UW jersey retirement ceremony. And here Tom Brady was, thinking she only did that for him.
Speaking of dogs, finally, Peter Herbstreit can take a load off. Although, he did seem to phone in his last day of work. Guess the Irish almost mounting a comeback wasn’t enough to keep him awake.

We’ll be seeing lots more of Chelsea forward Cole Palmer in the coming months, thanks to an Amazon Prime documentary that’s set to start filming soon. Fans don’t just love the 22-year-old lefty because he’s one of the Premier League’s top scorers. He’s famously nonchalant—so much so it was immortalized in a recent Burberry campaign—and his blatant lack of media training makes him even more endearing.
Fans also love him because of his celebration: each time he scores he shivers, so he’s cheekily been given the nickname “Cold Palmer.” (J. Cole collab when?) A celebration that’s become so iconic that Palmer has made recent moves to secure the trademark for it. Legally speaking, that seems blurry, but it makes sense considering Hawks guard Trae Young maybe kinda sorta stole or copied the celly—although he denies it.

If you’re a football (soccer) fan, none of this is new information to you. But there’s so much to love about Cole Palmer, as a player and as a person. And a story from BBC, about his familial roots in Saint Kitts and Nevis has given us a glimpse into the lesser-known parts of Cole’s life.
The teensy two-island Caribbean nation has a population of about 47,000 people, and some of them are members of the Palmer family. Although Cole himself was born in Manchester, he’s really proud of his Afro-Kittitian heritage, which is why he plays in boots (cleats, for you Americans) that feature the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis on them.
If you weren’t sold on Cole yet—that’s crazy, but—he also penned a piece for Players’ Tribune in 2022, and it reads as a love letter to his dad, who would bundle Cole up in rain jackets and bring little him along to watch his dad’s pub team play.
Now, Cole’s dad watches him wreak havoc in the Premier League, as does an entire nation in the Caribbean.

The Dodgers almost singlehandedly made baseball cool again—having the world’s most popular player and reminding an entire city how to be fans again. And somehow, the Dodgers are upping the ante.
The Dodgers' offseason moves are undeniably cool.
The Dodgers turned around and used Shohei Ohtani to recruit another Japanese star, Roki Sasaki, who may or may not have pretended to entertain a bunch of other offers, according to some anonymous league executives—keeping everyone on their toes, an undeniably cool move.
After that, the organization made history by signing the first-ever player to turn pro from the budding baseball hub, South Sudan. Joseph Deng, standing at 6’7” and throwing 95 miles per hour, is also, unfortunately for their haters, undeniably cool.
So, maybe they should be celebrated for drawing some international eyes to the game (and bonus points for building a team that reflects the diversity of the city of LA). Maybe that’s the way baseball keeps its cool. Maybe it is time baseball adopts an “act global, think global” mantra. Consider how well that strategy has worked for the NBA—in order for baseball to be cool, they must do what the other cools do. If even their NL foes have praised their organization and how they perform outside of the ballpark, maybe we all should.
By the way, don’t get us started on the cute factor because we’d have to go in-depth on Shohei’s dog, Decoy, who is also a star pitcher (but as far as we can tell, does also bat like dad), who runs the New Balance HQ, and is welcoming another teammate soon.
