Plus, Balogun’s Take Five

…Big enough for 100,000 butts in seats. The absolute unit of a stadium will create 92,000 jobs, be the tallest building in Manchester, and make every other UK stadium stand on their tippy toes in photos.
49ers fans have their upcycled flags at half mast as the team released Kyle Juszczyk, and the Kittle household is unsurprisingly taking the news the hardest. Nothing worse than losing your best friend. Our hearts go out to Claire and Kristin.
Athletes are some of the most sought after spokespeople for beauty brands these days. We aren’t sure why, because those people are all beautiful already. They should be giving deals to the rest of us who desperately need moisturizer. Anyway, friend of OffBall, Daniel-Yaw Miller, goes deep on it in SportsVerse.
The Bruins and Panthers played last night inside of an animated snow globe (no, you’re not having a stroke), in a matchup called “Best Snow Day Ever.” Using animation technology, live game play was turned into cartoons to appeal to a younger audience.
Every day a calendar page somberly and dramatically falls to the ground, and we grow one day closer to the WNBA draft. And every day we wonder “wait, where the heck is it?” The W still hasn’t said, even though it’s in 33 days.

Gabby Thomas is serious about learning to dance. She made a burner TikTok to document her journey.

Welcome back to Take Five, a series where our community taps in to curate the music, style, restaurants, trends, and influencers that have caught their eye. From the things that inspire them to what or who we should all be paying attention to.
We’ve had some fun with this series, featuring tennis champion, friend, and OffBall advisor Naomi Osaka and NCAA hoops star JuJu Watkins.
Today we’re talking to USMNT and AS Monaco striker, Balogun. We’re deep into Champions League, so we wanted to check in with someone playing the beautiful game.
Balo was raised in England by Nigerian parents and born in the US, so he was eligible to play for any of the three nations, and took the call from the US national team.
He’s been at Monaco since 2023 after playing for the Gunners at Arsenal. Balo, Monaco sounds wonderful, tell us about it!

OffBall: Who are your favorite UK / drill artists?
“Central Cee. He's somebody I resonate with a lot. He's always traveling between London, France & the U.S., taking in all three cultures, which is very similar to myself.”

What’s your favorite thing to do in Monaco?
“Monaco's a beautiful place to live with lots of things to enjoy. Even areas close by on the French Riviera are beautiful, but I'm more of an introvert, so my home is important to me. I keep it private most of the time, and have built a nice place to live. So I try to enjoy both sides of the Principality both at home and when I'm out exploring.”

Which fashion x football collab caught your eye?
“I've really liked what Jordan have been doing in the football space. Their collaboration with Travis and some of their kit designs have been really unique.”

Who’s your favorite American sports team?
“Yankees. I grew up on NY Yankees hats. I was fortunate enough to meet the team and all the players, so 100%, it’s Yankees for sure.”

What influencer or creator do you check in on the most?
“Leonardo DiCaprio. He's one of my favourite actors, so he's the one I'm checking in on whenever he's doing something new.”

How do you make a man like Chef Curry?
First, add one part executive. It was announced earlier this week he’ll act as assistant GM (not to be confused with assistant to the GM) for his alma mater, Davidson. In this role, he’ll also help create an eight-figure (hold his beer, James Harden) fund to support both hoops teams at the school. He, Ayesha, and the Bermans (Matt Berman, owner of Burnley FC, will be signing on as assistant GM as well, and family members Erica and Don) will be working on the Curry-Berman fund together. A path many expect other athletes to follow. Add this to his role as President of his signature Curry Brand at Under Armour, and you have the complete all-round executive.
Next, add two parts filmmaker. Curry’s been in his filmmaking bag, too. His media company, Unanimous Media, is teaming up with Marshawn and Beastmode Productions to produce a doc about rapper Mac Dre (RIP) and his music’s ability to create full on movements within the Bay Area (and eventually all over the world). That reminds us, we still need to catch up on Mr. Throwback, a show more of you should be watching, in our humble opinions.
Combine the ingredients and bake at the highest level for 16 years.
When cooked all the way through, let cool and add your investor toppings. He also joined the Unrivaled investor group (which already features big names like Alex Morgan, Carmelo, Giannis, Coco Gauff, Michael Phelps, and Dawn Staley) to bring their total round to $28M.
Remove from baking tin and shoot it (from the logo) into a hoop. Because he’s about to become the first player to ever reach 4000 three-pointers.
And that’s how you make a legendary hooper, filmmaker, actor, philanthropist, executive.

Proud to have written and voiced this essay for TNT about the historic imprint being left by @Unrivaledwbb. Women’s history isn’t just in the past. It’s right here.
