…we’ve got another “conscious uncoupling” on our hands. TMZ broke the news that Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson broke up last… year! But the real reporting came when The Sports Gossip Show did an emergency pod, complete with a weed gummy and an emotional support pumpkin. Madeline Hill smartly identified the conscious uncoupling, and now I can’t unsee it.
Induct Kaitlyn Chen into the Meme Hall Of Fame. Chen arrived at Game 7 of the WNBA Finals dressed as a hot dog (or a glizzy, if you’re cool) for Halloween and celebrated as a hot dog after the Valkyries won their first WNBA title. Yaxel Lendeborg reached his full fanboy form, Gabby Williams (that’s Spooky G to you) was Finals MVP and Too Short 2.0, and the WNBA officially runs through Ballhalla.
Jalen Brunson has graciously let Harry Styles play a residency at The House The NBA’s Biggest Head Made (Josh Hart’s words, not mine), so it was only a matter of time before Brunson came out midshow. Have to imagine Styles gave Brunson some acting tips ahead of his days on set of “SVU,” too.
Brunson wasn’t the only Knick outside this weekend. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods took care of Halloween won Halloween with Game of Thrones costumes last week, so KAT had extra time on his hands to give everyone a tour of the Woods by Jordyn pop-up. Unfortunately, the lucky Knicks bag still evades me.
Stars, they’re just like us. “It’s hard being a mum/footballer & post on Instagram,” Sam Kerr captioned her October photo dump. (Kristie Mewis, thank you for your service.) Luckily, Paramount+ Australia will handle the content from here. According to The Hollywood Reporter Australia, the live-action TV series is inspired by the Gotham FC (congrats on the NWSL Shield) and Matildas star’s childhood and based on her children’s book series of the same name.
Forward this to someone who is doing a really good job. We’re giving people their flowers down below.

Happy Monday! Sorry for being one of those people who has nothing better to open with than “happy Monday,” but I want to set the tone. Another work week is upon us, and I figured it might be nice to bestow some adulation upon the deserving; those of us who have been good at our jobs as of late.
Marathon goers. Yesterday was the best day of the year in NYC: Marathon Day. I posted up with my friends’ family at 91st St and 1st Ave, cheering on runners just as they’d come across the Queensborough bridge. I want to make sure to give the runners their flowers, because if you ask me, running a marathon is the most impressive thing you can do in this life. But the family members, the friends, the coworkers, even the strangers who line up along the route and ring their bells and scream and cheer the runners on for hours do just as amazing of a job. As I mentioned last year, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed with emotion. It’s the absolute best. Shout out to everyone involved in the NYC (and any other) Marathon.
Elle Duncan. Social media was ablaze with praise of Elle’s in-studio coverage and trophy presentation for Game 7 of the WNBA finals this weekend. I’m so in awe of everything she does, and I can’t get enough of her.
Kimi Antonelli. He became a world champion yesterday despite only being 12 years old (which is not his real age at all but is the universal age to call someone when they are way younger than you). Kimi, we love you, little guy. And so does Lewis Hamilton. Also, Google his name and a cutesy cartoon trophy and racecar command the screen.
My Moccamaster. I figured since our theme here is the work week, I can shout out my coffee maker for keeping me on top of my game day in and day out. And shout out to my husband for making that coffee every morning. This isn’t sponsored, and it’s not even sporty, but it’s important. I have the pink one, but if you are in the market, you can’t go wrong with any of the colors.
Whoever scheduled the Villanova-Notre Dame men’s basketball game in Rome. Just kind of fun branding for those two schools to play there. Plus there’s the Pope Leo of it all.
The stars. Love it or hate it, astrology is undefeated, see Justin Herbert and Madison Beer.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon, if her job was over-accessorizing. I know that technically isn’t her job, but how many people are even attempting a flat-billed hat with chromed out sunnies, a branded silk scarf and pearls? It’s absolutely insane, and I really love her for it.
Daylight saving time. Despite no one really liking this anymore, DST has found a way to keep goin’ steady, and that’s kind of impressive.
The camera guy behind this shot. Not a lot else needs to be said.
The uprights. God, I love a doink.
The people who redid Dwyane Wade’s statue. I recently found out Dwyane Wade has a Substack, called “Dryve Performance” (?), and he recently used it to explain why it was important that they fix his once-wonky statue. And it looks great now!
Gardner Minshew/Baker Mayfield. These two are kind of the same variant of guy, so I’m just putting them in the same bulletpoint. They both led their teams to victory yesterday, but Baker did his without even completing a pass (ok history books!). And Gardner Minshew is drawing comparisons to some iconic pop culture references.
The Brewers. They appeared on SNL this weekend, and they crushed their lines. Standing really normal, too, guys!
Who am I forgetting? Reply to this email with some nominations for next time.

On last night’s episode of “The Chat by WhatsApp…”
Jesser, LA Knight, and Nikki and Brie Bella watched the Eagles-Commanders over chicken fried rice and donuts, with all kinds of pets by their sides.
They lamented the state of the kickers in the league.

Brie Bella said it felt like a preseason game (sorry to the teams involved).
LA Knight said if he could wrestle any football player (dead or alive) he’d choose fictional character from Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Ray Finkle. And then took another opportunity to shade kickers. Sorry to our kicker readers, you really took a beating in there last night.

And as every conversation with Eagles fans does, eventually we got voice memos of the Eagles fight song. But I can’t embed videos, so if you missed those, I hope you learned a lesson.
For those curious, Jesser said this would be his walkout song.

Don’t miss the next one.
