Bad Bunny Was Super Bowl Cinema

Plus, Lindsey Vonn Forever

…The Seahawks won their second Super Bowl in franchise history and no one was more impassioned about this game than me. Except George Kittle, who is mad either team won. More on my experience at the Super Bowl below!

Between the Thom Browne show and the Abercrombie & Fitch presentation, Super Bowl week is basically on par with You-Name-The-City Fashion Week. And much like You-Name-The-City Fashion Week, I wasn’t cool enough to be present at either event.

Sydney Colson’s broadcasting career has officially started with this season of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball and it’s as good as you’d expect. She would be playing, but she’s still nursing an injury from the W season. No matter, she (and bestie TP) is still the face of every league.

Becky Hammon says the W needs to pay its players. And I agree! Because I want a season and because I think they deserve it. If the league doesn’t do it, I can contribute a crisp $20 bill.

At OffBall we love a good curated guide. And nobody is sorting the chaos of the Winter Olympic schedule like SI’s Mitch Goldich, whose daily viewing guides are indispensable to those of us who wake up every morning asking, “Now is that biathlon start at 7:05 a.m. CST or 7:05 a.m. CEST. He’s even thrown in a daily Olympic podcast you can download here.

Forward this to someone in one of the countries Bad Bunny listed (which was basically the entire Western Hemisphere).

I knew being at the Super Bowl would be a one-of-one experience, so I don’t know why I was surprised when I got to my seat, but I suppose it’s because being there feels that special. It’s as amazing as they say. Thank you to Adidas for the tickets, by the way.

From Green Day’s performance (of whom I didn’t know I was a fan until now) shortly after we arrived, the vibes were impeccable. That’s not revelation art, I know. But it’s worth saying.

Aside from the result of the game, I had a few questions about what might happen. One regarding the halftime show of an entertainer that rhymes with Mad Money, and one of the relationship status rhyming with…Bardi and Biggs. Who will Benito bring out and what’s with this cryptic Cardi clip?

The Bad Bunny show was unbelievable in person, obviously. Ricky Martin’s pipes were something to write home to Puerto Rico about, and though I don’t see the synergy between Lady Gaga and Bad Bunny, I’m certainly not mad she made an appearance.

And as to the Cardi-Stefon vibes, things are unclear. But you’ve probably seen by now that she was dancing at Bad Bunny’s signature hut (with Alix Earle, Jessica Alba, and Pedro Pascal).

Maybe some of the other celebs in attendance like Travis Scott, Benson Boone, Suni Lee, Sofia Vergara, Donovan Mitchell, Travis Scott, Bon Jovi, J Balvin, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Adam Sandler, Lewis Hamilton, Kim Kardashian or Kenny G know what the Cardi-Stefon relationship is.

The arrival fits were just ok, if you ask me, not that you did. But they were also kinda scary — Mack, what is this trying to communicate?

By the way, I have to shout out this very special Benito Bowl jacket by Yael Pasian worn by an Adidas employee.

So, in conclusion:

You’ve heard by now that Lindsey Vonn, after tearing her ACL and deciding to continue her participation in the Olympics, was injured just a few seconds into her downhill run. I woke up heartbroken to see the news, especially because the night before, I asked celebrities on the red carpet at the Fanatics party to give a compliment to someone in sports, and WWE great Charlotte Flair shouted her out.

Charlotte told me that since she’s turning 40 soon, she looks to Lindsey for inspiration. Flair said that she wants to do what Lindsey is doing, too — showing that even in pro sports, age is just a number. After Lindsey’s crash, many other athletes took to social media to show their support as well. Everyone is thinking of Lindsey — and lauding her for a level of bravery rarely exhibited in any industry.

From a teammate.

From a tennis GOAT to a skiing GOAT.

From basketball great Pau Gasol.

From broadcasters.

Even from the Olympic Games themselves.

And do read this wonderful story from NBC’s Tim Layden that reminds us that Lindsey had already won.
