Adam Sandler Is Hoopin’ All Over The World

Plus, This WNBA Relationship Is...Over? Again?

…and it includes French bulldogs and both the ocean and fire. Our favorite WAG answered some rapid-fire questions for Fanatics and GQ, and like everything she does, it’s must-see TV. By the way, what are we calling Klay in relation to her? HAB? We’ll workshop it.

Writer Rodger Sherman is always asking the important questions. Like, for instance, when is a TD celebration too sexy? What if one ref is kinkier than all the other refs? These are direct quotes, by the way, and it might be the most (unhinged but) best thing you read all week.

Oh, you thought we were done posting about the NYC Marathon, eh? Think again. Here are some of the best fashion moments from the race. You know I love never shutting up about stuff.

The internet sure does love finding a “face” for stuff. Their latest search takes place in women’s college hoops. I am personally a big Lauren Betts gal because we hung out on a yacht in Cannes last summer (that's a true story), but open to hearing about others as well.

Speaking of college hoops, AJ Dybantsa (who showed his worth in his first game last night) ending up at BYU is one of life’s great mysteries. Except it’s solved. And it involves hidden cameras, Kevin Durant, and lots of money. A long read, but a goodie.

Forward this to someone who likes drama and women’s sports.

“Go Off” is a special edition of our daily newsletter, featuring my thoughts, takes, and general vibes, presented to OffBall readers every Tuesday.

It looks like the CBA isn’t the only dispute the players have to worry about. NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington may have broken up for the [???] time. For legal reasons, I will be saying allegedly after everything that follows, so I can’t be held responsible for anything.

Recent WNBA champion Smith and Lynx guard Carrington have had an (allegedly) tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship over the past few years. Here’s what’s gone down. By the way, you might need one of those bulletin boards with strands of red string and a bunch of tacks to keep up with it all.

It all started at Baylor, despite coach Kim Mulkey’s rule about teammates being prohibited from dating one another. I’d say around when DiJonai was on the Sun, and NaLyssa was on the Fever, they broke up at some point in there, as they are wont to do. But they found their way back to each other and proved love really can prevail…for a little bit. It was really awesome because they quite literally got back together on the court. We all watched it in real time. They’ve even talked about some of it in detail.

Replying to @Certified Lover Girl this story is just too good 🤭 Whos next?? #wnba #basketball #lovestory #dijonaicarrington #nalyssasmith

The couple then found themselves on the Wings in Dallas, and they got to travel together and go live on socials together, and all seemed right with the world. But since being on different teams again, things have been rocky (allegedly).

According to my calculations, they’ve broken up a few more times this year (maybe in July and then in February, but who’s counting). We all kinda suspected the breakups because our queens love to post through it (relatable). But now, we may be in the midst of the messiest breakup of all.

DiJonai was courtside for the Aces' championship moment, but just a few months later, she’s posting through something. On multiple platforms.

And, oh yeah, so is NaLyssa. On multiple platforms. They also unfollowed each other. And wiped their feeds clean of the relationship. Devastating. (Allegedly!).

Fans (who are also posting through it or hoping it’s not true) have theories about who wronged whom. But I do want to remind everyone that we have no idea what goes on in their lives, even though it sometimes feels like we do. (Allegedly!!!).

Anyway, maybe some space and a CBA dispute will be good for them. I can only hope they find their way back to each other. Or not. Whatever they want.

At OffBall, we’ve been keeping tabs on Adam Sandler’s hoops tour…just in case he drops a hint or shows up to shoot hoops nearby. After all, I’m pretty sure he’s using his tour as an excuse to hoop on every court in America.

If you live on the West Coast, he could be right behind you. Last week he was putting up shots with Gabby Williams. Before that, he pulled up to the Midwest and performed in front of Caitlin Clark at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse. And he brushed up on his southern charm at Kentucky men’s practice. Plus, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and the Heat took him to school in South Beach.

Where’s next? The Southwest? Wherever we consider the Montanas and Wyomings of the world to be?

OffBall wants to connect with you whether you’re a creator, writer, or partner. We’d love to hear from you. Email [email protected] with any inquiries.
