A Festive Week Of Newsletters Ahead

Starting With The Friends We Made in ‘25

This week, we’re doing things a liiiiiiittttttle differently around the OffBall offices. As the holidays creep up on us, and the year is nearly at its end, I figured I’d let myself get sentimental about the past 12 months of newsletterin’. The OffBall daily newsletter is such a labor of love. You’ve seen how much I pack into it every day — much of it is thanks to colleagues, by the way. And to you, my readers! So, each day this week will be a look back at some of our favorite newsletter moments of 2025. It will be a little bit different, but it’s still the good stuff! But first, the links!

…The rapper, in partnership with the Pistons, has announced an initiative called “Creatives Across Continents.” A group of select creatives and designers will work with Big Sean and drop a retail line in 2026. Could it be you?! Could it be me?!

These NFL super fans will stop at nothing to set the best possible mood at the tailgate. Some of them are so addicted to the grind, they’ve missed the births of their children. I am keeping my thoughts to myself on that!

The HBO hockey love story taking the country by storm has been renewed for a second season. I haven’t seen the allegedly very steamy, NSFW hit, “Heated Rivalry” yet, but my friends can’t get enough. So it’s either as good as advertised or they are just pervs. Maybe both!

Jason Kelce and The War On Drugs (the band, not the war) joined forces to sing a Christmas jingle called “O Beer” for the Kelce Brothers’ beer company, Garage Beer. Every day, I get on here and say a sentence that would kill a Victorian child.

Andscape’s favorite cultural moments from 2025 include some big sports names (Angel, Shedeur, A’ja, a proper NBA rivalry). Plus the Clipse. And Sinners. By the way, if Sinners doesn’t win every award…you’re gonna hear from my lawyers…

Forward this to someone who needs a friend.

Thanks to our very talented and interesting friends, we had some all-time guest curations, interviews, and takeovers in this very newsletter in 2025. In no particular order, here are the best of the best.

My chat with Hanif Abdurraqib to discuss his editing and curation of “The Year’s Best Sports Writing 2025,” will always stick with me. Because he’s that special, and any conversation with him will do that to a person.

Josh Gondelman is one of the funniest people on the planet, and I’m lucky enough to have him as a close friend (brag). He did one of the funniest Joe Mazzulla’s impressions you’ll ever read. Now he updates me via text every time Joe Mazzulla does something insane, like begging his wife for a pet wolf.

Felicia Pennant is the founder of SEASON, a soccer and fashion mag in the UK. We chatted for about an hour longer than we intended, and I had to cut it down for this. The things I do for you <3.

Jake Rogal directed my favorite sports documentary ever, “Court of Gold.” So fangirling on a call with him was a 2025 highlight for me

One of my favorite athlete interviews ever was with the Olympic fencer Miles Chamley-Watson. It was supposed to be a Q&A, but my computer didn’t save the video recording (wow, maybe she doesn’t have it all together after all…). Anyhoo! It was perfect as it was. I will be seated for the WFL.

Speaking of athlete interviews, my friend Master Tesfatsion interviewed Marshawn Lynch, and I had the distinct pleasure of editing this interview. How should I say this…a lot of curse words were cut. A lot of them. Think of the number of swear words you imagine being a lot, and double it. Anyway, the interview rocks.

One of my other favorite athlete interviews ever really requires no explanation. It was Allen Iverson. It does require me to remind everyone he liked my hair and said I was good at my job.

JT of “JT Made That” did a fashion-inspired guest curation, complete with his takes on who the best-dressed athletes are, how women athletes have changed the fashion game, and how to style your college hoops merch.

Shea Serrano is in my personal “Hanif Abdurraqib” tier. Meaning, he feels like a mythical, larger-than-life, sports voice and personality that I’m just lucky to be in the same room* as. I spoke to him about his book, and it ruled.

*actually be on a call with

One of my favorite Take Fives thus far was conducted via video call with Tobin Heath and Christen Press. They rock. Just good vibes all around.

I also loved “Happy Gilmore 2!” Sue me! Anyway, my chat that ensued with Modi and Roger Steele because of the film was just as fun. In my unbiased opinion.

Last but not least (and actually I’d keep going forever if they’d let me, because we’ve done some amazing friend-making this year), is my chat with David Hollander for World Basketball Day (which was yesterday, by the way!).

I feel very lucky to be able to deliver good vibes, good interviews, and good people directly to your inbox every day, and I hope you’ve enjoyed these people as much as I have.
